Lavon & Carolyn Waters BBFI Missionaries to SPAIN since 1958
July 2008
Dear Friends,
The first week of our summer camps is now history. This camp was for
children ages 7-9. Our attendance was down some from last summer
(64), but we expected this due to the financial crisis Spain is
going through right now. However, God blessed as always and we had
10 children accept Christ.
One of them was Miguel, a 6 year old from our church who was able to
attend since he will be 7 in August. At the beginning of the
invitation on Wednesday night he was the first one to step out to
accept Christ. After talking with his counselor about his
conversion, he told us Miguel said to him, “I have a LOT
of sins and I really need to be forgiven”. We have no reason to
question his sincerity. Yesterday in church he made his decision
public. Carolyn was talking with his mother to see how he told her
about his decision at camp when he arrived home. He said “I have
some good news, but I am not going to say it - rather I am going to
sing it.” And he began singing to his mom “I have decided to follow
Jesus...” He is the son of Jesus and Lucy. Jesus is a former
catholic missionary to Ecuador. We have requested prayer for his
salvation many times.
Our grand-daughter, Sandy Loveday, is now on deputation to come to
Spain as a short-term missionary. Sandy was born in Madrid, her
first language was Spanish, and she is anxious to serve the Lord
here. She will be living in Guadalajara during this term and be
working under the supervision of Pastor Torres and his wife Mari Mar
in the church ministry. Also she will be helping in the camp
ministry. We feel that perhaps there are those of you who might be
interested in helping her to get here. If you feel you can help
Sandy, you can contact her by e-mail at
spain4christ@yahoo.com for details. Any consideration you can give to this matter
will be appreciated by us.
Our next letter will be in September when we will send a pictorial
report of the camps. Thank you so much for your help.
In Christ, Lavon & Carolyn Waters
