Dear Friends,

Every missionary that I know is hurting because of the exchange rate. Many have had to return stateside to raise additional support. Some have even had their wives go work so that the men could do the ministry. We live in interesting and turbulent times. A few are just trying to hang on praying and hoping that the exchange rate will get better. It affects the economy everywhere. Truthfully there is no Rolaids for our relief on the horizon. I am trying to stay here in Belgium until at least the fall 0f 2008 or the spring 2009. I am planning a short furlough and if you would like for me to be in your services let me know. You can e-mail me at larrytbelge@yahoo.com. Having said all that, for me, this is not a great time to be gone. Ladies Retreat - Click photo for a closer look; use your browser's back button to return
The fourth annual Belgian ladies retreat was in Bruges. It was really fantastic. We had 40 ladies for two days under the teaching of Jenelle Bender. (The wife of Steve Bender, who is in the mission’s office in Springfield) It was a blessed time. Our ladies gave thrilling testimonies of confession and commitment. Of course the men did the cooking and the cleaning during that time.
The Saturday before Easter we had our first community wide Easter egg hunt sponsored by our church. I asked my workers what it would take to be considered a success and the answer was one or two contacts. Good Friday it snowed Easter Service 2008all evening. I was thinking we would either have the hunt in the church building itself or we would cancel. Saturday morning it was warm and by noon the snow was gone. The neighbor allowed us to use his yard and we had a great time. We had passed out a several hundred invitations and flyers but we did not really expect a big turnout. We had people everywhere. We made new contacts. We had families come. We had to buy more candy to fill the plastic eggs. We were grateful for the four hour window of great weather. At one point all the villages and hamlets around our town were getting torrential rain and snow. We had the sun shining and warm weather. Ten minutes after the activity was over the sky opened and it poured. Pray for us as we follow up these new contacts.

Your Missionary,
Larry Taylor
