Dear Friends,

June 1, the community decided to block our parking area and have a flea
market. We have tried to get the community to do this on a Saturday
morning instead of Sunday but that did not happen. Thus, we rented the
space in front of our building and encouraged our people to bring their
items to sell and trade. We had a table for clothes and cast off things.
We had a table which gave away popcorn for free. We had a table to sign
up for scrapbooking. This was an idea of my wife and daughter. We are
having the first scrapbooking night June 12th. Jean and Rebecca had some
examples of this craft on the table. They had 12 ladies who have nothing
to do with the church give us their contact information. We are praying
that God will do good things with this outreach. We are trying to widen
our horizons with the scrapbooking class. We also did face painting at
the flea market. Deborah did the face painting and did an excellent job.
(She is home from BBC for the summer.) The neat thing about the face
painting was that Monique one of our elderly ladies sat at that table
and witnessed to all the parents who were waiting for their child to
have their faces painted. She handed out personally hundreds of tracts
and invitations to the church. Rebecca did a puppet play for the
children. We had a few come to watch that. We also offered the use of
our restrooms to the community. We had a few hundred people walk in our
building where we had people standing, sitting and drinking coffee who
could then converse and witness to them. It was a sunny day and our
people stayed and stayed. We pray to reap a harvest of souls from this
effort by our people.
June 9 was father’s day in Belgium. We had a good group
of Dads for the day. It was also
western
day at the church and we had several visitors come to the services. Then
we did good Baptist tradition, we had dinner on the grounds with a
barbeque. It was a good day. We had good time in witnessing to the
visitors explaining the gospel to them. Pray for Marie Theresa and
Francis to be saved. Jean Pierre was here also and is in need of
salvation. There was a couple who promised to come and it was
disappointing for the wives and children when they did not attend.
Gasoline is $9.46 a
gallon. Inflation is above 5%. The Forbes Tax Misery Index places
Holland as #2 and Belgium as #3 with France as #1 as the top three who
impose the harshest taxes out of sixty-six countries in the world (The
United States is #49.) Food prices have risen 13% and are now nowhere
higher in Europe than in Belgium. These are just a few of the recent
headlines from articles in our national newspapers. If our future
ministry here were dependent on what the economy is doing we would
certainly have reason for doubt and fear. It is obvious that our
purchasing power has now declined 40% when just looking at Dollar-Euro
exchange rates. Let us throw our hands up, panic and run circles scream
the sky is falling. However, I believe the God of Heaven is still
running things around here and we need to put our life in his hands.
Your missionary,
Larry Taylor
P.S. Please keep us in your prayers as we take a short furlough in
October and November that we can gain some need support. I will be on
the east coast and have a few dates left if you would like a report.
