Cristina's Testimony
September 2007
Dear Pastor and Friends,
I grew up in a Christian
family and always went to church. But one day when I was five years
old my mom talked to me about God and Salvation. That night God was
dealing in my heart, and I realized I was a sinner and if I didn’t
get saved I was going to lose eternal life with Jesus. So I told my
mom I wanted to get saved, and I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as
my personal Savior. I acknowledged that Jesus Christ is the only way
to Heaven, because He is, “The Way the Truth and the Life.” Two
years later when I was seven years old I wanted to follow the Lord
in believer’s baptism, and I took a step of faith and got baptized
at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, April
1993.
In 1993 my parents
surrendered to be missionaries to Greece and started Deputation. We
were on Deputation for less than two years. In between those two
years we were in a Missions Conference in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
That night I surrendered my life to God to be a missionary when I
grew up. We spent eleven years in Greece, in which I have been
working in the church my dad started, and evangelizing with him
downtown. I started teaching Sunday school in our church at age
twelve, and I also played piano for altar calls only. Four years
ago, I was praying for God to show me what I can do for the ministry
in our church. He answered my prayer and I was able to start playing
piano for our church services, for about two years. It was great!
During the Olympics in Greece, we had a group of a hundred and ten
come to evangelize with us for a week. Everyday we went downtown and
evangelized and handed out twenty-five thousand Bibles. I had the
great privilege of leading someone to the Lord, and he has been
coming to church ever since. His name is Kevin, he is the first
person I have ever lead to the Lord, and that night I had so much
joy in my heart, I wanted to talk to everybody and lead everyone to
the Lord.
With the desire to serve
in the mission field I enrolled in the Greek Bible Institute Alpha
Program through Liberty University in Athens, then I went to Baptist
Bible College. In the summer I went with my family to the Missions
Retreat, and I had felt reservations concerning going back to Greece
because I lived there and saw the difficulty that my parents
experienced. But the Lord touched my heart and I surrendered my will
to God’s will and am willing to go back to Greece.
Sincerely,
Cristina Sinde
