The Lewright Family
BBFI Missionaries to Poland

About Us

Derrick and Amber were hundreds of miles apart, and their paths were very different, but they both came to know the Lord during the summer of 1973.  She was reached by her aunt and her pastor; Derrick was at youth camp.

They both shared the struggle with the call to ministry as well.  Amber had even determined to study medicine, but she eventually enrolled at Baptist Bible College.  She and Derrick met and married, and then he joined her at Bible college.  But they were both unsure where their future ministry might take them.

Working for Bible Baptist Church in Cassville, Missouri, they were introduced to several missionaries.  In 1996, Derrick's uncle and aunt traveled to Poland for a mission trip.  They returned with encouraging news about God's work there.  In January 1997, the Courtneys from Romania visited the church,  telling about the great need in Eastern Europe for Christian workers.  One night in February, the couple surrendered their lives for Poland.

After graduation, Derrick and Amber served a two-year internship with Trinity Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas.  They are now trained and will be leaving for Poland as BBFI missionaries on September 25, 2002.
