Dear Prayer
Partners,
GREAT IS THY
FAITHFULNESS—This was
the theme for our church’s Zhatva celebration, a
Russian harvest celebration. Church members
brought an abundance of fruits and vegetables to
share with one another, along with wonderful
desserts and salads. We provided the meat and
potatoes and enjoyed a wonderful time of praising
God for all He has done for us.
Our evangelistic efforts
have been challenged. On two occasions the police
have interrupted our door-to-door evangelism
efforts. Once, while Jim and Alaina were visiting
with a woman in her apartment, a policeman arrived
and told her that Jim and Alaina had to leave. She
protested, but the officer told her that after they
were gone, he would explain why she didn’t want them
there. Alaina was a little scared, but she is doing
fine and continues to look forward to going on
evangelism with her Dad. On another day, our partner
in ministry, Pastor Sam, was taken to the police
station for questioning. He witnessed to the
officers and was allowed to leave literature in the
waiting area of the police station. The police told
us that we can witness on the street and we can put
literature in mailboxes, but we are no longer
allowed to go door-to-door. Praise the Lord we still
have some freedom to tell people about Jesus!
In recent months three
people have accepted Christ as their
personal Savior, one has been baptized and another
is scheduled to be baptized. Please pray for Roma,
Dina and Alaftina as they begin to grow in the Lord.
In the midst of these victories, we entered a period
referred to by some as
“The Visa Crisis of 2007.” In October
a new Russian law was signed limiting us to being in
Russia only 90 out of every 180 days. We are still
in the midst of trying to understand how we may be
affected by this law as we received our visas prior
to the law change. We may have to return to the US
in February for an unexpected furlough to begin a 90
day rotation with our ministry partners in an effort
to ensure the continuation of the ministry in
Moscow.
For His glory,
Jim Hutchinson |
