Dear Prayer
Partners,
"I told Leanna about Jesus, and
it worked!"
by Alaina Hutchinson, age 9
On Thursday, June 7, I
told my friend Leanna that Jesus Christ died for her
sins. I told Leanna everything about Jesus in
Russian. One of the words I used I had never even
used before, but God just put it in my mind. She
said that it was very interesting and asked me how
to ask Jesus to be her Savior. I told her how and
that I would pray with her, but she wanted to think
about it. After I was done talking with her, she
went upstairs to her apartment. When she came down
she told me that while she was going up she thought
about the words I had told her and that on her way
back down in the elevator she prayed and asked Jesus
to be her Savior! I gave Leanna a Russian Bible and
now she reads it every day after lunch. God is
working in her heart!
(Note: The title of this
article is a quote by Alaina when she called home on
a cell phone to tell us that she told her friend
about Christ!)
In
June the Ellis and Zajicek families came to Russia
to adopt teenage girls. Tonya and Yulia are sisters
and have spent the past 10 years in an orphanage
outside of Nizhny Novgorod. Both families attended
our Sunday service in Moscow. That day the girls
heard, in their native language, that they are
special, valued by God, that God loves them, and
that He has a plan for them. They heard the plan of
salvation for the first time. After church, we went
to a restaurant and several young people in our
church spent time getting acquainted with the girls
and witnessing to them. Please pray for Tonya and
Yulia and their families as they transition into new
families, a new country and a new language. Please
pray that they will be saved! We also thank the
Ellis' (members of Baptist Temple, Springfield, MO)
and the Zajiceks for bringing us some goodies from
the US as well as baseball equipment for our youth
ministry. It is being used every week!
On
June 29, the marriage of Maxim and Larisa, faithful
members of our church, was registered at a local
Russian government office. It is customary for the
Bride and Groom and a few guests to visit a national
monument on this day to take photographs. They will
have a church ceremony July 21. Please pray for
Maxim and Larisa as they begin their life together
serving God. Maxim desires to become a pastor.
For His glory,
Jim Hutchinson |
