Prayer Letter
July 2010
Dear Praying Friends,
The elderly man driving
the car in front of me suddenly swerved and slammed on his brakes as
his car filled with a white powder. I veered to the side of the road
as he brought his car to a halt on the shoulder ahead of me. Rushing
up to him, I could see his air bag had deployed for no reason. His
glasses were shattered and had gouged his face deeply. Blood gushed
from his smashed nose and from his mouth due to a partly severed
tongue.
The man was dazed, in pain and couldn´t see because of
the blood in his eyes, so I helped him find his cell phone and call
his son. While waiting for his family to arrive, we brought his
bleeding under control as I talked with the man about the Lord and the
uncertainty of life.
His son soon arrived and we transferred
the injured driver to his car. The son looked at me with my church
clothes and blood splattered rubber gloves and asked, “Are you a
doctor?” “No” I replied, “I am the pastor of Windward Side Baptist
Church in Lagos.” “You are a Baptist pastor?” he asked surprised.
“Well, thank you for caring for my father!” With that, they rushed to
the hospital as I continued home from Sunday services.
We just never know how or when God is going to give us another
opportunity to witness!
Now leery of air bags,
