Prayer Letter
November 2009
Dear Praying Friends,
Since our next door neighbors moved in a little over a year ago, we
have had many opportunities to talk with this couple and their two
children. He is a volunteer fireman, she works at a local gas
station. Among their relatives are fervent Catholics, intrusive
Jehovah's Witnesses and radical Pentecostals. They have seen the
worst that religion has to offer and yet they are still open and
friendly.
Portugal just had their local and national elections and there were
few surprises in the results. Our village, however, was one of the
exceptions. Our next door neighbor was running for office as the
underdog and he is now called, “Mr. President”. He was just sworn
into office on October 28th. We have never lived next door to a
president, nor have we ever known one personally. This is brand new
territory for us!
Okay, okay, I have to admit that his complete title is, “President
of city hall” and is the equivalent of “mayor”. Our next door
neighbor is now the newly elected mayor of our town and the
surrounding county. The village is still buzzing with excitement
over the electoral upset that just took place. Please pray for this
young family and for us that we would have more opportunities to
share the gospel with them.
Praying for the new president,

Mark Hale
