Dear Friends:
First, let me tell you about my grandchildren!
Titus Steven Askins was born on March 3rd to
our daughter, Carrie, and her husband, Steve. Then, on April
5th, Takoda James Gritts was born to our son, Greg, and his
wife, Audry. We have one more new grandchild due the end of May.
This time we are supposed to get a little girl from our son,
Chad, and his wife, Jennifer! So, the family keeps growing and
we thank God for healthy babies and safe deliveries.
We are also having babies here! Both types!
Malcolm and Jo Buchanan (Bro Dennis Buchanan’s son) are proud
parents of Emily Elizabeth born March 15th. And, Claire Binder
led her sister, Fay, and daughter, Holly, to the Lord. Claire is
a lady who was saved and joined Temple while we were on
furlough. What a joy to see these new Christians burdened about
their families and actively taking part in leading them to
Christ!
Many of you are aware of the tax situation
here. We are meeting with a representative of the tax office in
May to try to get some kind of idea what we are really facing.
The threat is for each foreign taxpayer to pay a set fee of
$60,000, or, pay taxes not only on all monies brought into the
UK as we currently do, but also on all foreign assets, i.e.
retirement funds, savings, properties, and work fund. That would
mean paying taxes on all our American investments here as well
as there! Double taxation! This new tax initiative is going to
also require that missionaries be off the field three out of
every ten years. This will put us in direct violation of BBF
policies and interfere greatly with the ministry. So, we need
your prayers. We need to find a way to be honest, and yet not be
taken to the cleaners!
Meanwhile, the work goes forward and we
rejoice in souls saved anticipating God to move in great and
mighty ways because He is in control of governments and the
hearts of men!
