Dear friends,

We arrived in New York City on furlough and our hearts were filled with emotion as we saw first hand for the first time the skyline that has been changed, the people whose lives have been changed, and a country that has been changed. As we began our journey we drove through cities streets and highways that have evidence of change, a country proud and united, a concept that is a mystery to those abroad.

We were blessed to reunite with our family, friends, and church members.  We picked up our son Poli from Boston Baptist College and then drove him to Youngstown, Ohio, where he will be spending the summer doing an internship with the youth. We praise the Lord to see him in God’s service and to see how God provided this opportunity for him.

The Lord has been so gracious to show us the fruit of our ministry in Greece, as well as in the USA. We had the opportunity to visit a church in Long Island where David Corsen is the Pastor.  Bro. Corsen is a Lawyer that surrendered to full time ministry during our furlough in 1997.

Then we drove to Springfield to attend the Fellowship meeting and also the 2002 graduation.  This had a special meaning to us as Richie Krecl was one of the graduates.  Richie, a long time friend from our sending church, came to our graduation in 1993 and surrendered to full time service. He will begin his service under  Dr. R. D. Wade this Fall as he prepares to be a missionary, praise the Lord.

The blessings continue as God gave us the opportunity to meet again with Jason Branin, whom I led to the Lord when he was 16 in a Missions Conference in North Carolina, while we were on deputation in 1994.  He graduated from BBC, came to Greece on a short term mission, and is preparing to do missionary work with the youth.

We also had the blessing to see a Russian young man who was just saved when we came to the Missions Conference in Brookfield, MO in 1994. Bro. Lukyanov was an exchanged student and I was given the opportunity to share with him how God was using me to go back to my country and reach my people, and what a privilege it would be for him to do the same.  Since then he graduated from BBC and has been called to pastor the church he was saved in, as he prepares to return to Russian as missionary.

Let me not forget to mention that the reason we were able to take this furlough is that Adam Crabtree who is watching over our work in Athens, surrendered to be missionary to Greece after I preached in  BBC chapel in 1997 while on furlough.

Yes, we arrived in the USA and saw change, but we rejoice in the changed lives the Lord brought before us to encourage us.  We want to encourage all of those who feel that deputation or furlough is tiring and endless, because it is also a time in which God uses us to touch lives, to see people saved and surrendered, and that one day God will give the opportunity to see these go forth to serve because of our obedience to serve.  I praise the Lord for the privilege to serve Jesus Christ and I thank you all for the opportunity that you gave us to come to your churches and share our burden for the Greek people.    John 15:6
