January-February 2010

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

When the two of us first arrived in France in January of 2003, no one could have predicted the sudden, steady and serious fall of the dollar. Now, two children and seven years later, it costs us $1.45 to buy 1 Euro (for example, 100 Euros worth of groceries costs us $145; we lose about 45% of our salary in the exchange rate). With the rise of health insurance costs (we currently pay over $800/month), an increase in IRS tax payments (over $600/month), a loss of financial support (especially during the recession) and the high cost of living in this area, it is easy to see why so many missionaries are having to leave their field of service to return to the States. Some return to try and raise more support, others decide to move to a cheaper area, and still others are forced to quit or resign.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You may not be in a position to give more financially at this time, but you can pray!
Pray that:
-God would help us to be wise stewards of our money
-God would meet our financial needs
-God would give us wisdom in all financial decisions, including when to take a furlough
-we would be able to increase our financial support, especially during our furlough
(currently planned for fall of 2011)

In spite of the present financial crisis in the world, we know that all things are possible with God and nothing is too hard for the Lord! Also, “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.
Thank you for praying.
In the hands of Jehovah-Jireh,
